Beds for Buffalo

The Beds for Buffalo project will build 200 twin beds for children in need by engaging students, corporate teams and community volunteers. The Service Collaborative of WNY will distribute completed beds through identified community partners that serve families surviving poverty. An application process will be implemented for community partners and their case workers to assess and identify families with children that can benefit from a new bed. WNY YouthBuild students will serve as volunteer leaders and empower recruited community volunteers. This will build new and complement existing skill-sets and allow the opportunity capitalize on strengths and expertise of the community.

By providing 200 children with new beds, this will improve their self-esteem, ability to learn, and positively impact the likelihood of graduating from high school. In addition, it will combat the epidemic of bed bugs forcing families to replace all their beds and bedding at once, which is unaffordable for most low-income families living in poverty. Beds for Buffalo will bring the WNY community together to tackle a shared challenge and increase awareness focusing on child poverty.

For more information contact Adam Bartoszek at 716-418-8500, ext. 150 or email [email protected]. All community volunteers must be 18+ years of age and older. All projects will take place at The Foundry located at 298 Northampton St, Buffalo, NY 14208. Please visit the Beds for Buffalo Volunteer Registration Page for more information!
