Our History

TSC creates opportunities for all individuals to serve their communities, challenging them to turn their ideals into action and their passion into positive change. Through transformational service and civic responsibility, TSC is designing a sustainable future for our nations communities. As an independent non-profit organization, TSC has been recognized as a community leader with the capacity to identify/address community needs through direct service.  TSC is built on an infrastructure of responsible grant stewardship of Corporation for National and Community Service and other federal funds, producing countless quality programs involved in transformational service. TSC seamlessly continues its provision of national service programs to WNY, overseeing, on average, five national service programs annually. Currently, we operate two AmeriCorps State programs, an AmeriCorps VISTA program,  YouthBuild Program and a Volunteer Generation Fund program.

In 2016, the most recent full program year, over 200 AmeriCorps members and YouthBuild students served in Western New York and across the state, completing over 240,000 hours of national service.  An impressive list of accomplishments were achieved, including: 12,020 volunteers recruited; close to 1,500 students received academic support; 206 individuals received financial aid/FAFSA/Student Loan assistance; 35 families served purchased a first home; and, over $1.4 Million was raised by VISTA members fight poverty.
